Behaviour
This is a friendly casual raiding guild, and we expect people to behave accordingly.
Treat fellow guildies with respect.
Spammers, scammers, ninjas and gold sellers are not tolerated.
Language
Please moderate your language. Excessive swearing is not acceptable.
Alts
Alts are welcome in the guild as long as the main remains.
Raiding
We call this a “casual raiding guild” because there is no pressure on you to take part in raids.
However – if you do take part in raids, then please be aware that our approach to raiding is NOT casual.
If you sign up for a raid, you should
Be logged in on the correct toon 15 minutes before the raid starts.
Be at the instance entrance 5 minutes before raid start time.
Ensure that you have repaired your armour, that you have flasks elixirs food, and money for repairs for the duration of the raid.
People who repeatedly sign up for raids and fail to appear on time without reason are liable to be suicided to the bottom of the loot lists – at the discretion of the officers.
Gear
Make reasonable efforts to gear up before signing for raids – through heroics, BOE crafted items (ask for help from other guildies – we have many professionals)
Add-ons
You are expected to have installed the following:
Ventrilo, Omen, Healbot, Deadly Boss Mods or Big Wigs, decursive (also required by mages and healing classes), Pally power (pallies only)
Talent build
It is expected that you have researched your class and have a suitable talent build.
No raiding is permitted with PVP specs.
Enchants/Gems
All of your gear should be enchanted/gemmed to the highest level.
Reagents
Ensure you have sufficient reagents for your class.
Warlocks ensure you have a reasonable supply of soul shards at raid start.
Flasks/Elixirs
All players are expected to have two elixirs or a flask active throughout the raid. Bring sufficient to last all through raid time including any wipes, if you use flasks bring at least three.
Food buff
Chefs will frequently lay out a feast, make sure you eat that or your own food buff if you prefer.
Buffs
At start and after each wipe/death ensure that you apply your class buffs.
If there are more than one of your class – arrange turns.
The raid leader should not have to ask you to buff.
PVP
Arrive at the instance with your PVP flag OFF.
Looting
When a boss is killed, you should not talk on vent, nor type in /raid until the loot has been given out. If you need an item, type “need” in /raid. If no one needs and you can use it for offspec then type '/roll' and the highest value gets the offspec loot.
Members will only be in the raid if there are not enough raiders of the correct class to fill the raid.
Where there are members present, raider rank takes priority over members for loot.
Main spec loot is given out according to a suicide kings system.
Everyone who raids will be added to a list.
The loot will be given to the person nearest the top of the list – who will then be “suicided” – moved to the bottom of the list.
NO LOOT SYSTEM is perfect, but this system does rapidly distribute loot across the guild allowing everyone who raids to gear up reasonably fast. This system is that chosen by the officers and guildmasters, and we do not wish to discuss (again) why we didn’t choose dkp, and we will not be changing to dkp so please do not ask (again!).
Alts/Mains
Your main should be available to raid with the guild. If you get your main locked to a non guild instance, you will not be permitted to raid on your alt, and you will receive lower priority in selection for raids as your availability/commitment will not be known.
Alts are not normally permitted to raid, so you should sign up for all raids that you wish to attend with your main.
In certain circumstances, the raid leader may require an alt for a raid for specific reasons.
Example reasons might be:
Need for a tank or healer
Need for specific CC or mind control.
Insufficient mains to make up a party.
When someone brings an alt for the good of the guild, they lose out on badges and loot chances for their main. To properly compensate them, they are given their own place in the suicide kings list, and allowed to roll as anyone else.
In the past this has caused a good deal of friction within the guild due to the slight grey area of whether this alt was needed or not.
In order to remove this grey area we will simplify the rule as follows:
All toons in a raid be they main or alt have equal loot rights.
If you wish to object to the presence of an alt, then you should speak to the raid leader at the start of the raid – preferably before the first trash pull, and ask for the reason why the alt is in the raid. The raid leader will explain his reasons.
Once the first boss is pulled no one can object to the presence of an alt, and that alt has full loot rights.
The argument about alt/mains has gone on too long and it has to stop!
The above rule change makes the rule black and white.
The officers have considered this rule carefully and decided it is best for the guild.
They do not want to revisit it every time someone is unhappy with a roll.
The raid leaders spend a lot of time to make good raids for us and do not want to spend their time discussing this rule.
If you cannot accept this rule, please do not sign up for raids!!
The officers have been happy to see people pass loot for others for various reasons, like realising an item is a bigger upgrade for another raider, or passing for someone who raids more often. Whilst we appreciate these gestures, we do not enforce them in the rules.
Please note that suicides are final. Once you have been given an item and suicided, you cannot be "unsuicided" for any reason, so please roll carefully, and consider using an add on like "Ratings Buster" to help you decide if you need it.
Also, on occasion, there may be items which are useful to some classes even though made of the wrong material - for example spell power cloth items might be useful to druids. In these cases, you will be allowed to roll on an item which is not your normal material, only if no one who usually wears that material rolls.
SK lists
There are currently 2 lists - 10 man and 25 man
VOA
Raids on VOA and ONXYIA do not use SKG because most of the loot is class specific.
If more than one person needs an item then a simple /roll will be used.
Mounts/Bags/Spoils etc
These items are of equal use to everyone in the raid and will be dealt with by /roll.
Again no distinction for main/alt. The only exception is if the winner has it already then the next highest will get it.
Dual spec
Where a character is able to use two specs this is at the discretion of the raid leader.
When raiding under an alt spec, the loot privileges are based on the main spec.
Spec/Main changes
If you wish to change your main toon or main spec you should ask the guildmasters or an officer.
This will be discussed and you will receive a decision in a day or so.
Ventrilo
The ventrilo server is provided primarily to support raiding.
If you want to chat about just about anything you are welcome to use a spare channel and talk as much as you want. However, when we are raiding, the channel belongs to the raid leaders and loot master, and in specific circumstances to key classes in the fights – eg tanks on rezuvius and death knights on malygos.
Please moderate your use of the ventrilo channel while in raids – there are other channels and times for long conversations.
Do not call out for healing. Remember that the healers have more information in front of them than you do, and are prioritising heals and decurses for the whole raid – they need to do so without distraction.
Updates
Being locked to PUG instances
If the guild is doing more than one instance in an evening, and at raid start time you are locked to one instance, then you will be unable to join the raid, and you will not be included for any of the other instances that evening. Additionally, if you refuse to attend a guild raid in favour of a pug raid, you may be suicided. Repeated incidents will result in losing your raider rank.
Being absent at raid start time
If you sign up for a raid, but are not online at raid start time, without a valid reason, and without telling an officer, you will not be included in the next raid that you do sign up for and are online.
Repeatedly failing to sign for raids
If you don't sign for 2 weeks you will lose your raider rank and be suicided to the bottom of the loot list. Repeatedly failing to sign up will result in being removed from the guild.
Class Specific Loot
Loot which can only be equipped by a single class, such as VOA armour with a class restriction, totems, librams, idols and sigils will not come under the SKG system but will be decided by a simple roll by those in the appropriate class.
Leaving Raids Early
When you sign for a raid, you sign to be available for the duration of the raid.
Leaving early is at the discretion of the raid leader, and must be arranged at the START of the raid, to give the raid leader the opportunity to replace you if your leaving later would prevent the raid continuing. If you leave a raid early without prior arrangement, you will need to speak to the raid leader and explain your reasons. People who leave raids early without good reason will receive low priority for future raid selections. Repeat offenders are liable to be suicided on the SKG list.
Priorities
It is expected that you will prioritize guild activities above non guild activities.
If, in the opinion of the officers, your priorities lie outside the guild, you will be removed from the guild.
Ventrilo
We have tried to let people regulate themselves on ventrilo, but it is not working.
Although the vent server is for the good of the guild, and you can use it for general chatter, in your own channel and your own time, it is not for general chatter in raid time.
If you talk too much about irrelevant things on vent in raid time you will be warned, if you continue you WILL be removed from the raid.
Maturity
The guild's application form states quite clearly that we expect maturity.
Recently I have found the maturity level of some of the talk in /g depressingly low.
As a direct result of this we have actually set a minimum age limit of 16 for new recruits.
This is an adult guild and we expect adult behaviour.
